Looking for interviewees… indie, rock, hip hop… you name it
to provide insight for a book on band dynamics and personal development. It will outline the magic behind a cohesive band. Many talented bands die because they don’t get along or struggle with outside priorities.
Questions: send answers to… thebook@coachpamela.com
Please answer any of these you can. You can be as specific or general as you would like. If you would like to provide your answers anonymously please state this and I will not divulge any identifying particulars.
Please include a contact email address in case you are chosen to be interviewed further.
Some of these questions may seem weird, stupid, easy, or unnecessary but it is all in how you answer them.
Tell me about yourself, your band?
How did your current members come together? (How did you meet? How long have you known each other?)
How many member changes in this band have you had?
How many other bands has each person been involved in? (How many are you involved in currently?)
Do you do things together outside of playing music?
Do you have regular (non-rehearsal) band meetings? (Having drinks before a gig doesn’t count.)
Do all members have outlined responsibilities? (shared equally or paid a percentage)
What is the ultimate goal for the band?
Do you also have immediate monthly and yearly goals?
Does every member have the same vision for the band?
What is the most difficult aspect of being in the biz?
How do you handle creative disagreements?
How do you handle the varying personalities?
Money management: Do you have a written agreement on how you fund the band and how profits are split?
When you are performing and you know the band is “off” what is typically the cause?
Do you have a support staff? manager, promoter, agent, roadies, coach, mates,
What have you found to be the key to your success?
What have you learned through your failures?
What would you say to a group just starting out?
How do you balance your day job, relationships, and your music? ((This is the BIG question))
++ Any last words? ++
** Coach Padme is a “Kick Butt Performer’s Coach”…
assisting music groups and individuals with developing priorities, balancing band life with day jobs, relationships within and outside of the band and the passion of the art. When you are surrounded by “yes people” it is important to have an impartial facilitator to give it to you straight, to kick your butt when it needs to be. You have agents and managers to handle the band as an entity. You need a coach to guide the most important part of the band, its members, to a life of balance. **
